Grandfather Clock Moon Dial Not Working

Another late dial from the end of the grandfather clock production days.
Grandfather clock moon dial not working. Not much white left on here center seconds hand and large date hand rolling moon phases in the arch. To repair bend the minute hand towards the dial and away from the glass. Look inside at the back side of the dial to locate the click spring. Circa 1860 to 1870.
The moon dial on my howard miller grandfather clock will not advance. Face the clock and remove the top side panel. These may be used as seconds here. Open the door on the side or remove the panel from the back access section.
Make sure the clock hands are not touching the glass. Advance the clock twelve hours to make sure the minute hand does not catch on the hour hand. When the grandfather clock is not working after a move there are a few problems to look for that can be easily fixed. However it does not advance after setting it.
The chime is the song that plays every 15 minutes and not to be confused with the strike. Grandfather clocks are actually very durable. Many of the older grandfather clocks or english tall case clocks as many people called them had a painting on the dial along side of the moons each dial has 2 moons to keep the calendar accurate. The strike is what calls out the hours after it is done with the chime song.
Recently replaced when old movement could not longer be repaired. Very typical of the late dials except for the center seconds and use of minute numbers. I have no trouble rotating the dial. Grandfather clock chime issues.
Repair shop said everything was working properly when they tested and set it. A clock minute hand that touches the glass will stop your clock. From a manufacturer s standpoint it is not much more than a talking point when selling a clock. The moon dial or lunar phase dial is not of any practical use to most of us in our modern times.
I have a ridgeway grandfather clock with moon dial and ship deer and 2 moons not sure which moon goes up for full moon also i have owned this clock aprox 15 years and never knew to oil it it stopped so we took off hood and cleaned was not a speck dirty before opening hood then started clock ran 15 hours stopped again. Repair the moon dial if it is not working correctly. Place your pointer finger on the tip of the click spring. The clock movement is new.
